Tahoe Ridge Winery pioneered the Nevada grape growing industry in 1990 by planting the first research vineyard at its home ranch in Minden.
This first vineyard consisted of 900 grape vines with 7 different varieties of grapes. Since 1990 Tahoe Ridge has expanded its Nevada grower research partners to 10. Tahoe Ridge has planted over 80,000 grape vines and researched 37 different grape varieties for adaptability/survivability to the arid cold/hot climate of Nevada.
In 2005 Tahoe Ridge began the development of 3 commercial vineyard plots within the State of Nevada. These vineyards will eventually supply Tahoe Ridge with 45% of its annual grape production needs.
Currently our California grower partners supply Tahoe Ridge with 65% of our annual production. We look to balance our grape supplies at a ratio of 45% Nevada grapes and 55% California grapes by the year 2015.
We want to thank both our California and Nevada grower partners for the great steps/risk they take each and every year in supplying Tahoe Ridge with the high quality grapes that enable us to make the great Tahoe Ridge wine you buy and drink.
