Tahoe Ridge Winery and Marketplace

Now, some 150 years later, in the year 2006, Tahoe Ridge has a vision to build the Tahoe Ridge Winery & Marketplace project on the same piece of land that once housed Henry's vision. The Winery & Marketplace will integrate many of the traditions of the past with the entertainment value of the future, combined with solid agricultural stewardship.

The two focal points of the project will be the Winery Building, a state of the art facility housing the complete winery production, barrel aging, and warehousing functions, along with the Grand Chai for maturing our finest wines and the Great Hall for entertaining. The Red Barn Building, which is recognized as the oldest barn in the State of Nevada, will house the Marketplace which includes a wine tasting area, museum, private reserve room, gift shop, deli, farmers market and meat and cheese shop.

Other components of the project will include an artisan village. During the summer months high-end crafter's will demonstrate their artistry to guests. Their works will then be available for sale through the Marketplace.

A museum on the property will house the history of the ranch, the Carson Valley, the Emigrant Trail, the Van Sickle Family, and the emerging grape growing/winemaking industry pioneered by Tahoe Ridge.

Guest housing on the property will be used on a discretionary basis by Tahoe Ridge management for investor relations and marketing. It may also be rented out from time to time for special events such as weddings, anniversary parties, corporate retreats and theme dinners.

The culinary arts center will house a state of the art cooking school and will act as the primary food preparation facility for the whole complex. The culinary arts center will utilize demonstration gardens i.e. vegetable, herb, rose, and perennial in its food and wine education classes.

The current Black Angus cattle operation on the ranch is operated by Nick and Rhonda Uhart and will be integrated into the culinary arts center, deli, and meat and cheese shop.

An outdoor ice skating rink is in the planning stage as a wintertime activity for the community. Typically a winery refrigeration system is only used three to five months out of the year for cooling wine tanks during fermentation and cold stabilizing the wines prior to bottling in the spring. We are looking at the ice rink as a dual use of the glycol refrigeration system and a way of generating a faster return on our investment. At the same time, we are offering a place for the community to enjoy the beauty of the ranch in the winter months, and generate additional revenue for the site.
